For more than three decades, Turneffe Flats has been known as one of the world’s finest saltwater destinations. Our diverse fishery, with the opportunity to land bonefish, permit and tarpon on any given day, sets Turneffe Flats apart from other destinations. Turneffe’s crystal clear, wadeable flats make bonefishing a consistent mainstay of our fishing. Turneffe is also one of a select group of saltwater destinations offering anglers the opportunity to experience the excitement of casting to tailing permit every month of the year. Additionally, Turneffe is home to large, migratory tarpon between April and October with resident tarpon caught throughout the year. Snook, barracuda, snapper, jacks, triggerfish, and several other species, round out an exceptionally-diverse fishery.
Once a sleepy fishing village, Placencia has emerged as an increasingly popular destination on the Caribbean. Spend the day fishing for Snapper, Kingfish and Wahoo in some of the best fishing grounds in Belize. The fly-fishing on the flats off the Cayes east of the Placencia peninsula is some of Belize’s best. This is one of the top areas in the world for permit. You’ll encounter plentiful tarpon—they flurry 10 deep in the water at times—as well as snook. You can also catch king mackerel, barracuda, wahoo, and cubera snapper. Southern Belize is best known as a world-renowned permit territory—and while most anglers who visit the region are intermediate to advanced, our experts are also happy to guide beginners for a one-of-a-kind fishing experience.
The Turneffe Atoll is remote and strikingly beautiful with crystal clear waters alive with a wide diversity of marine life. Noted for its variety of saltwater fly fishing, plentiful bonefish, permit and tarpon, Turneffe Flats is one of the rare spots in the world where you have a legitimate shot at a Grand Slam. Continue your fishing adventure to Placencia, a traditional southern Belize fishing village and Chabil Mar.
