Description

Altun Ha has two main plazas, thirteen structures including the temple of the sun god. An interesting part of this site is the water reservoir called the ‘Rockstone Pond’ to which the name comes from for Altun Ha. Located 31 miles north of Belize City Altun Ha is surrounded by a wide range of wildlife including white-tailed deer, hundreds species of birds, tapir, squirrel, paca, foxes, raccoons, and large crocodiles near a Maya-made lagoon to name a few.  This site is located 45 minutes from Belize City.
